FORM 2

Form 2 is for supplies the patent specification or information of the patent application filed with the Indian Patent Office (IPO).

The specification can be either a provisional specification or a complete specification, it’s depending upon the type of patent that is filed by the applicant.

Form 2 consists of all details about the invention.

  • The first page of Form 2 shall contain:
  1. TITLE OF THE INVENTION
  2. APPLICANT(s):

(a)NAME:

(b)NATIONALITY:

(c)ADDRESS:

 

3. PREAMBLE TO THE DESCRIPTION:

PROVISIONAL ( ) OR COMPLETE ( )

Further, the specification contains:

  1. Field of the invention: It describes the broad area of technology under which an invention fall. The description of an invention should be standard. E.g. e.g. “This invention relates to …………………”
  2. Background: The theory behind the selection of that particular title and the logic behind that.
  3. Objective: The objective of an invention describes the importance behind the Invention. This section must include technical problems and for that innovative solutions.
  4. Summary of the invention: This part is associated with the knowing novel features of the invention.
  5. Brief description: A description of an invention is required to be provided in sufficient detail to offer a comprehensive understanding of the invention. This description should follow the Summary of Invention. Drawings should be described briefly.
  6. Detailed description: This section consists of whole detail about the invention. That makes it easy to understand. It may include drawings and details about the subject (invention).
  7. Working examples: In this section, you will find out different examples of experiments that does during the invention. This section consists of all kinds of results which came from the experiments done by the inventor.
  8. Claims (In case of Provisional Specification, you can avoid claims.): This section is mentioned in an application only if when it is “COMPLETE SPECIFICATION”. Claims are nothing but the RIGHTS that achieve after the Patent application is successfully registered.
  9. Abstract: This section of the form shall contain a summary of an invention, which consists of the technical field of an invention. It may not contain more than 100 to 150 words.
